Wildfood Mapping At Sunday Dub Club

On a sunny October 6th, 2013, the Sunday Dub Club transformed Sydney Park into a lively hub of festivities and learning. The event was not just about music and fun; it was also a significant day for raising awareness about the Wild Food Map Pozible campaign for The Weedy One, Diego Bonetto. Leaving behind the bustling Eveleigh Markets, attendees found an ideal outdoor office, complemented by cool beats at this well-organized free party.

The main attraction, aside from the energetic environment and the grooves of the DJ, was the wild food mapping activity. Wild food mapping integrates local food resources with community engagement, pinpointing where people can find edible plants and wild foods in their immediate environment. The goal was to educate participants on urban foraging and sustainably sourcing local plant life, which aligns with increasing environmental awareness and sustainable living practices.

Attendees mixed and enjoyed drinks, each bringing a touch of nature thanks to the insights provided by the wild food map enthusiasts. This integration of learning with leisure created a uniquely engaging atmosphere, making everyone feel part of a greater cause. The day proved perfect as new and familiar faces alike gathered under the open sky, surrounded by the green expanses of Sydney Park.

Photographs from the event captured smiling faces, impromptu dance sessions, and moments of genuine interaction among guests discussing their discoveries about urban foraging. These visuals not only highlighted the day’s success but also helped further the reach of the Wild Food Map campaign. Each shared image and conversation at the Sunday Dub Club spread the word about the importance of recognizing and utilizing local flora.

This edition of the Sunday Dub Club stands out as a prime example of how community gatherings can fuse enjoyment with education and activism. As more urban dwellers become interested in the origins of their food and the potential of their local landscapes, events like these play a pivotal role in shaping a more eco-conscious community.
